Expert Combustion & Emissions Solutions | RJM International
RJM International is a specialist, award-winning provider of a range of innovative, practical products and services that enable utility generators, biomass and EfW plants to operate cleanly, reliably and efficiently.
Today plants operate in a commercially challenging environment where reliable operation is essential. There is constant pressure to maximise output but at the same time they are faced with ever-tightening emissions regulations.
So, optimising combustion and reducing emissions, without negatively impacting on other aspects of a plant’s operations is complex work, but thanks to its nearly 50-year track record of success, RJM can develop a tailor-made solution to suit the precise requirements of the unit, no matter what the fuel, the combustion technology or the size of the plant.
For example, to resolve various operational problems at a 24 MWe EfW plant in the UK, RJM used Discrete Element Method modelling to understand why the fuel feed system was sub-optimal. RJM’s solution included a total redesign of the fuel train including a new fuel hopper and screw feeder.
At a UK waste processing company firing black bag waste, RJM devised a solution to optimise the amount of ammonia reagent being used, whilst still enabling it to meet its NOx emission limits.
At a UK 21.5 MWe fluidised bed unit firing waste wood, RJM resolved combustion instability, high gasifier peak flame temperatures and the formation of large deposits of slag by carrying out a full CFD study which led to the installation of a new oFGR system. RJM has now successfully completed a number of separate upgrade projects at this site and has recently installed 16 IMPULSE® cleaning units across the plant to further improve performance.
In May 2026 RJM was awarded The King’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2026, for three years’ strong export sales growth.
