Bioenergy Infrastructure Group (BIG) and Peel NRE, part of Peel L&P, are bringing forward a carbon capture pilot plant – incorporating innovative technology developed by C-Capture Ltd, at Ince Bio Power - the largest waste wood gasification plant in the UK. Ince Bio Power is located at Protos, Peel NRE’s strategic energy and resource hub in Cheshire. The Ince Bio Power facility is part of BIG’s portfolio of biomass and waste to energy assets, 3 of which are in the track 1 industrial clusters. The facility currently uses waste wood which would otherwise go to landfill, to produce renewable energy to power over 42,500 homes. Capturing CO2 from the flue gases would deliver negative emissions and has the potential to be the UK’s first bioenergy with carbon capture & storage (BECCS) facility.
This session will look at the progress, implementation and technology of the project.
